The PIH Health Whittier Medical Office Building (MOB) reached a major milestone last week with its official topping out, marking the placement of the final structural beam and significant progress toward the facility’s 2027 opening.
The 112,000-square-foot, multi-specialty building—developed by Boldt Real Estate in partnership with PIH Health and constructed by Boldt—will expand access to coordinated outpatient care across Los Angeles and Orange counties. Located on the PIH Health Whittier Hospital campus, the new MOB is designed to bring a broad range of services together under one roof, improving convenience, efficiency, and care coordination for patients.
“This milestone reflects the strong progress the team has made and the coordination required to deliver a project of this scale on an active healthcare campus,” said Jake Garro, President of Boldt Real Estate. “Reaching topping out is a testament to the strength of the partnership and shared commitment behind this work.”
When complete, the building will house a comprehensive range of outpatient services, including an urgent care center, imaging services, outpatient surgery center, eye clinic, primary care, and a wide range of specialty physician offices. Centralizing these services will enable patients to access consults, procedures, diagnostics, and follow-up care in fewer visits—supporting a more connected and patient-centered care experience.

The project is the result of a long-range, systemwide master planning effort between PIH Health and Boldt Real Estate, aligning future service delivery with 30-year market projections and evolving community needs. This forward-looking approach ensures the facility is not only meeting today’s demand, but also supporting long-term growth and care delivery across the region.
With the structure complete, the project team is now focused on interior buildout, MEP installation, and continued coordination with hospital operations to maintain a safe, uninterrupted environment throughout construction.
